NC Libraries Featured in Slate Magazine
Several North Carolina libraries were featured in Slate Magazine's September 2022 article How Libraries Became Refuges for People with Mental Illness.
The article highlights the work that libraries are doing to support neurodiverse patrons and patrons with mental health challenges. Dawn Behrend from Lenoir-Rhyne University was praised for her online workshops on supporting patrons with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The interfaith prayer and meditation room at NC State University was highlighted as well.
Scotland County Celebrates Patron's 100th Birthday
Scotland County's oldest bookmobile patron just celebrated her 100th birthday. In a recent Facebook post, Scotland County interviewed Eleanor Shealy Adeimy, a longtime bookmobile patron who offered advice for living a long life and shared her favorite books to read. Happy Birthday Eleanor!
