As you may know, NC LIVE Executive Director Rob Ross has accepted the position of dean of Ohio University Libraries, effective on August 1, 2024. We extend our deep gratitude and appreciation for Rob’s many accomplishments during his nine years of service to NC LIVE, and we wish him the best in this new opportunity.
We are pleased to announce that NC LIVE Associate Director Claire Leverett will serve as Interim Executive Director while a full search is underway. Leverett has been with NC LIVE for eight years, helping to lead the organization and working closely with member libraries and with all aspects of its collections, programs, and services.
As Interim Executive Director, Leverett will work under the direction of the NC LIVE Executive Committee and in conjunction with the Librarians Council to provide leadership for the organization, managing the staff, budget, and assets of NC LIVE. She will develop and articulate vision, strategy, and objectives; implement strategic initiatives and programs; build connection and collaboration among the staff and member libraries; and seek new opportunities and funding sources to improve services to member libraries and their Communities of Interest. She will coordinate the resource selection process, working with the Resource Advisory Committee, and will negotiate contracts for licensed resources. She will also represent NC LIVE in regional and national consortia and other collaborative library communities.
Ross’ many accomplishments since 2015 on behalf of NC LIVE reflect his dedication to its mission “to help member libraries to better support education, enhance economic development, and improve the quality of life of all North Carolinians.” He has strengthened NC LIVE’s identity and strategy, enhanced its relationships with member libraries, developed new services to meet statewide needs, achieved significant cost savings through negotiation of resource license agreements, launched a statewide Open Educational Resources initiative, and established a professional development program. His leadership in all of these areas and more has benefited us all and positioned NC LIVE for a bright future.
