EBSCO upgrade to HTTPS- July 19th

Update from EBSCO (7/21/2021) :

EBSCO now plans to deploy HTTPS enforcement in August 2021 (exact date forthcoming). This deployment was delayed due to an active service issue regarding problems that occur loading pages.

----------------

Beginning on July 19, EBSCO will upgrade its interfaces and services to use HTTPS. This upgrade will apply to EBSCO's legacy products and services, with many of EBSCO’s authentication and newer interfaces already enforcing HTTPS by default. Action May Be Necessary Local Proxy Libraries: If your library uses a local proxy, the following actions may be necessary.
  • Ensure that your proxy service uses an up-to-date SSL certificate
  • Ensure that you have the current EBSCO proxy stanza. The current stanza can be found here.
  •  If you are using NC LIVE Hosted Proxy, barcode pattern matching, or the NC LIVE password, no proxy changes are necessary.
If your library uses EBSCO direct links:
  • All EBSCO HTTP links will automatically redirect to HTTPS. However, EBSCO support recommends replacing HTTP links with HTTPS at some point.
  • No action is necessary if your library uses the NC LIVE links for EBSCO resources. NC LIVE will update these links on our end. Example: the NC LIVE link for NoveList Plus is https://www.nclive.org/cgi-bin/nclsm?rsrc=423
All Libraries:
  • Review any hyperlinked logos or images on your interfaces
  • Verify that you are using the current recommended browsers and encourage patrons to do the same
Additional Information
  • EBSCO customers may proactively update interfaces to automatically redirect to HTTPS. If you are interested in making this change in your organization’s interfaces before July 19, you can do so using the EBSCOadmin settings. Please note that any change made before July 19 will not affect your ability to use our products, however, you may notice minor visual differences during the transition.
  • More information on the change can be found on the EBSCO support page
