Accessibility Learning Series

This series offers an introduction to web accessibility as well as advanced topics for ensuring the library's web presence is open and available to all patrons. Four webinars will be led by our member libraries on how to advance accessibility efforts within your communities. They will also share the tools and resources that can help attendees of all experience levels. 

Registration is required for each session. Recordings will be sent to registrants and published to our YouTube channel.

Feeling unsure about where to start with web accessibility? This webinar will help you get started with making sure that your library’s website and digital content can be accessed and understood by all patrons. Facilitators will provide an introduction to this topic and will lead breakout rooms on the following skills: 
  • Creating accessible web pages and documents
  • Using assistive technology in desktop and mobile devices 
  • Evaluating your library’s web accessibility with automated checkers

Be prepared for hands-on training and resources to bring back to your library!

 Join us for an introduction to building accessibility into library instructional content and programming. Whether you provide instruction in-person through classroom sessions in an academic library or through events in a public library, this presentation will help you to ensure that any patron can fully participate no matter their ability. 

Topics covered will include universal design for learning, priorities for event planning, and best practices for making everyone feel welcome and able to learn. Time will be provided for participants to ask questions.

At the end of 2022, the E-Resources Management Working Group of the Triangle Research Libraries Network (TRLN) published a guide to negotiating accessibility with vendors. The writers of the guide will share their key takeaways in the guide, strategies for advocating for accessibility, and next steps with keeping this document relevant and useful to all libraries.
